Artist's Comments

These were/still are in my main :iconuktara: gallery but I thought I'd upload them here too, since this is now my sculpting gallery.

My first commission (from way back in April), for a fellow DA friend. 10 pairs of ballet shoes were requested and 10 pairs I made.

Made from polymer clay (doll making clay because I like the colour), each one is totally individual and OOAK. 5 are glittery and 5 are plain/glossed, although the glitter didn't seem to show up much on the pics unfortunately. All but 2 have ribbon hangers so they can be hung on a wall. Because I am still relatively new to making them, they got progressively better as I worked through them.

The shots aren't as sharp as I would have liked, sorry. I softened the completed pic to kinda compensate.

Size - the circle base is only 2 and a half inches across. The shoes are even smaller.

Full view recommended, thanks. :)

how much are you selling these for again? My little girl started ballet last week and this would be a great thing to give her this christmas! I know you live in the UK, but shipping can't be way too horrible...I hope;)

If you wanted, I'd be quite happy to send you a couple of the ballet shoe plaques as part of a parcel exchange, rather than you have to pay me for them. A small selection (whatever you feel is a fair exchange) of US chocolate bars would be nice! :D Up to you though. If you like the idea we could exchange addresses via email. :D

awe you are so sweet! Any kind of chocolate you like especially? PS you have inspired me to head to the store and start experimenting with clay again. It's been a few year (more like a decade) but I used to be quite good at it as well.

I love particularly strong dark chocolate (50% - 80% cocoa). A friend sent me Hersheys once which was yum! My email address is fallonkeeper @ [link] (but without the spaces) if you want to exchange addresses. Now I've just bought some new Fimo clay which is glittery, in purple and red. Did you want traditional pink ballet shoes? Or one pink and one glittery? Or did you want more than two pairs? Just let me know in the email. I haven't made any ballet shoes in a while so it would be fun to make some again. :)

Yes, you should get some clay again...it's addictive but fun! :D

I can't do it for a couple of weeks but as soon as I can scrape enough for posting chocolates I will take you up on it!

Wow! These are very cool. What a great idea! They look so soft and delicate. It's hard to believe they're clay.

Thank you!
I adore pointe ballet shoes so they were fun to make! I haven't made any in ages though, too busy making the dolls! ;)
